Software to help Award Seekers
I have discovered a few programs and utilities which have
been of great assistance in preparing and checking my web site while
seeking awards.
If you are serious about winning awards and are prepared
to put in the extra effort, these might just help you.
UWSAG - United Web Site Award Givers The first
place to go for plenty of advice. You can register as an Award Seeker
and receive a Nominee badge (displayed here). It recognizes your determination
to read and understand criteria for all award programs you apply
for. |

your browser window to standard sizes for checking (800x600, 1024x768,
etc) |

links on this site are checked regularly and this is one of the
tools used

free but very good |

work to get right, but it is worth it |
|

work to get right, but it is worth it |
|
Site Valet - An excellent service that provides
more understandable comments after validation.
A Site Valet mark represents a site owner's commitment to quality.
The site should have no technical defects, and is being actively
maintained to avoid the information on it becoming outdated through
neglect. Or if it does contain errors, these are deliberate, and
not simply due to ignorance or carelessness. |

my web pages and it has several features to assist in preparing quality
web pages |
|
Crimson Editor - this is a FREE text editor which
I use to edit text files and also occasionally web pages |

TopStyle - My program of choice to edit and manage
the Style Sheets used on the site. I also now use TopStyle for CSS
and XHTML validation as it has built-in facilities with direct internet
links - very good |
|
Site Confidence - Several online tools available,
including one which tests how fast your page loads simulating a 56k
modem |
|

of reasons. Firstly it's fast, but it also offers lots of useful
