Rev. Francis E. Huffman, 88
A resident of Poneto, Rev. Francis E. Huffman, 88, died Saturday at 1:30 a.m. at Caylor-Nickel Medical Center. He had been ill for a short period prior to his death.
Born Jan. 16, 1907 in Wells County, he was the son of William A. and Anetta Roll Huffman. His marriage was on Sept. 5, 1931 in Sims, Ind. to the former Gladys E. Shadle, who preceded him in death on Jan 25, 1984.
A retired Wells County farmer and carpenter, he was an Evangelistic minister and served as a pastor at the Chester Center Christian Church and the South Liberty Christian Church.
He was a member of the Fellowship of Bible Churches, Northeastern District in Florida, and the Wells County Farm Bureau. He graduated from Chester Center High School.
He resided the past 20 winters in Avon, Fla.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Kay E. Huffman, Poneto; a brother, Nelson Huffman of Hartford City; a sister, Mrs. Delight Craig of Syracuse; four grandsons, Gregory L. Huffman of Bluffton, Douglas K. Huffman, Zach L. Huffman and Tyler A. Huffman, all of Poneto; three great grandsons and two step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bergman-Glancy H. Brown & Son Funeral Home in Warren, officiated by Rev. Dan York and Rev. Jesse Klingaman. Burial will be at the Jones Cemetery in Wells County.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
