Octagenarian Is Victim Of Illness
Charles (Chic) Huffman Rites Set For 2 p.m. Friday
Charles W. (Chic) Huffman, 74, Mt. Zion, Wells County, died Tuesday at the Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, after an illness of six weeks. He was born November 8, 1877, in Jackson township, Wells County, and lived there all his life except 17 years spent in western states while a young man. His parents were George W. and Sarah Catherine Neff Huffman.
Mr. Huffman was married September 6, 1902 to Jennie Belle Henry, who survives. They had no children. Mrs. Guy Conklin, Fort Wayne, is a sister.
Mr. Huffman was a member of Company E, 160th Indiana Volunteer Infantry during the Spanish-American War. He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Brethren Church and the Bluffton Elks Lodge.
The body was taken to the H. Brown & Son Mortuary in Warren and will be taken Wednesday evening to the residence in Mt. Zion where friends may call.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Mt. Zion United Brethren Church with the Rev. R. E. Stratton of Hope, Ind. officiating. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Montpelier.
