• Military: Wounded and captured at the battle of Gettysburg, 1-5 Jul 1863, Gettysburg, South Dakota. ¹⁴⁰ He was hospitalized for a time at Gettysburg until transferred and confined at David's Island, N.Y., July 24, 1863.

Paroled at David's Island, he was transferred to City Point, Va., where he was received September 16, 1862 for exchange.
