bullet  General Notes:

Mentioned in the will and recorded in the Parish register of Lanercost, England as the son of Bartholomew was christened 25 Oct 1761. Spoken of by brother Thomas as also being at Little York when Cornwallis surrendered. He probably was, as he too died as early as 1827 in Jackson county, Indiana before the 1832 pension law was passed which would have allowed him to apply for a pension.
There is some evidence in Virginia State records that two Bartholomew's did serve. One listed as Barth in Taylors, VA Regiment and the other as Bartholomew in the Infantry. Any way Thomas said brother, not father. At least he was not a minor as stated by Mrs Ferris in her DAR application.
He married Milley Lively in Albermarle, Co, VA in 1781. A bond of 50 lbs signed by Bartholomew Sr and Lawrence Long on 29 Dec. There were two Bartholomew's, father and son, on the Albermarle tax list 1782-1784 which was reconstructed for the 1790 Census of Virginia.
He migrated to that part of Green County, Kentucky which later became Cumberland county about 1790, on the CROWS water basin. Had 200 acres of second rate land according to the 1799 Kentucky Tax List. By 1801 his tax also included 4 horses or mares. By 1802 his 200 acres seem to be in Jessamine Co, KY that part of Fayette Co, KY that had become Jessamine. His tax continues in this county through 1815, the last residence being on Clear Creek.
In the published account of "The Kentucky Gazette" 1787-1800, we find a list of letters left in the printing office, among others the name of Milley Kindred at Miami, KY.
In the 1810 Census we find they had a large family. Males 4 boys and 1 adult; females 5 girls and 1 adult.
In April 1908 we find in the Jessamine minute book that Bartholomew Kindred Jr. was appointed ISham Chism of Albermarle County, Virginia to act as his attorney, sell and collect pay for 104 acres of land in that state and county for him, which land he had purchased from Edward Carter. That was about the time that Bartholomew Senior's estate was being settled.
In 1812 he served in that war as a lieutenant in Allen's Kentucky Regiment of the Mounted Volunteers, 9th Company. Served as Constable and town crier of Nickolasville several years. Served as bondsman and witness in many court cases.
Married Hester Blake 2/5/1815. Page 38 Book 1, Jessamine Co. He and son Edward co- signed a marriage bond, old box #8 for Jene Price to marry William Knox. It is thought she may have been a sister to Bartholomew rather than a widowed daughter. Sold holdings in Jessamine Co, KY and migrated along with several of his children and friends to Jackson Co, Indiana 1816-1817, where two of his nephews, sons of William, John and David Kindred had gone before. Records of him in Jackson County are very scarce.
1820 Census
Males
1- 10-15
1 over 45 Bartholomew
Females
1 under 10
1 26-45 Hester
It is thought the male 10 to 15 may have been Bartholomew's son William, born 1804/9 from his old bible found with his daughter Medora's descendents in Mercer Co, MO where William died. Hester Blake Kindred must have become a numerical statistic since no record of her has been found in the 1830-40 census. So far no will or estate was found either.
In September 1850 Congress passed a law allowing service men of the 1812 war to receive Bounty Lands for service. Hester filed such a claim in Clark Co, Indiana 16 April 1851. Signed her mark along with a Jas. N. Montgomery. A Sarah and John Wheeler signed affidavits as to who she was, all in Clark Co, IN.

On 21 August 1852 a John & Howard Gordan & Larkin Nickolson of Washington Co, IN swore to the integrity of Bartholomew & Hester's marriage. She also had renewed her claim in that county.
31 July 1854 in Appanoose County, Iowa Hester again appeared in Court, age 69 and a resident of that county still requesting a search for Bartholomew's 1812 military service but still unable to recall the details necessary to receive such.
By the 1810 census of Kentucky Bartholomew & Milly Lively Kindred had been married some 30 years and may have had married children no longer in their home.
