Justice Owen & Clarissa Grace were twins.

The Sacramento River broke the levy at Justice Owen Chapman's ranch. It destroyed his buildings and drowned his stock. Justice drank some of this flood water, became sick and died. Virginia was left penniless, worked in a laundry 12 hours a day for a dollar.
