Americus Bonaparte Maples served as a Private in the Cherokee War, enlisting at Athens, Tennessee in 1837. He was in service one year. He was in a Company of Volunteers commanded by Captain James Morrow, in Colonel Lindsey's Mounted Regiment. In 1838 he joined the service at Bradley County, Tennessee and fought in the War against the Seminole Indians. At the end of his enlistment he received Bounty Land. He married Matilda and they had thirteen children. In 1850's AB Maples moved to Carroll County, Arkansas--also lived in Missouri.
