Served in the Union Forces during the Civil War. He was a Private in Company G, 11th Regiment Tennessee Cavalry Volunteers and later in Company L of the Ninth Regiment. He was wounded near New Rutledge, Tennessee in December 1863 and was in the hospital through 1864. He was wounded again in the fall of 1864 in Tennessee and was in the hospital at Cumberland Gap, Tennessee. When he was discharged he had lost his right arm and left leg. He received Pension No. 62245. He had been a blacksmith. Andrew Jackson is buried in the National Cemetery at Chattanooga, Tennessee.
