Mary Anne Reed, 91
A native and former Bluffton resident, Mary Anne Reed, 91, died Sunday in Indianapolis, where she resided.
At one time Mrs. Reed operated a hat shop in Bluffton and was well recognized for her hat designs. She begin learning the millinary business at the age of 13.
She was active in Psi Iota Xi Sorority while in Bluffton and after her move to Indianapolis became its national president.
She was born Oct. 6, 1903 to Albert and Rena B. Ulmer Huffman. Her marriage was to Wendell Reed, former Indianapolis newspaperman, who died in 1974.
Two sons, Dr. Thomas Reed and Dr. Richard Reed, preceded her in death.
Surviving are four granchildren, Mark, Mike, Nancy and Cindy, all of Indianapolis, and four great-grandchildren. She is survived also in the Bluffton area by two nephews and a niece.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Crown Hill Funeral Home at 700 West 38th St. in Indianapolis with calling one hour prior to the service.
