John A. Byrd Died This Morning
Passed Away At His Home Near Zanesville From Brights Disease
John A. Byrd, born and raised in Wells County and for many years a resident of this county, passed away this morning at his home in Allen county, west of Zanesville, near the Wells-Allen County line. He had been a sufferer from Brights disease for some time. The news of his death was received this morning by his brother, A. J. Byrd, living east of Bluffton.
The deceased was fifty years old last August and was the son of Washington and Elizabeth Byrd. He was married to Jane Sonner, a daughter of George Sonner of Union township, deceased.
He is survived by his wife and nine children, five of whom reside at home. The following children are married: Elzey, Zanesville; Mrs. Frank Huffman, Mt. Zion; Gary, near Zanesville and Mrs. Lawrence Eddingfield, near Zanesville. Mr. Byrd has no living sisters but the following brothers survive: James, William and Steven. His aged mother also survives him and resides at Zanesville, where she makes her home with her son, James.
Mr. Byrd owns two farms in Allen county. He resided on one and the other was under cultivation by his son, Gary.
No funeral arrangements had been announced today other than that the remains will be interred in the new cemetery at Zanesville. Mr. Byrd realized that his death was approaching and had made the request that he be buried there.

John married Norah "Nora" Jane Elizabeth Sonner on 11 May 1882.⁷⁰ (Norah "Nora" Jane Elizabeth Sonner was born WFT Est 1842-1865 ⁷⁰ and died on 10 Jun 1935 in Wells County, IN ⁷⁰.)
