Hardy Sanders was part Indian. His descendant, Annie Boone Call, "was the only 'throw back' and [her] Indian appearance was always blamed on [her] Boone side of the family. There was not one single other person on [her] Sanders side that had olive skin or brown eyes. [Her] very fair complexioned brother did have one blue eye and one brown eye; this from Indian heritage. But ... [she was] having difficulty finding any Indians on [her] dad's side....

Hardy married Catherine Anne Clampet, daughter of Mathias Masten Clampett and Rebecca Nicholson, on 28 Sep 1835 in Madison County, Alabama.¹⁹⁷ (Catherine Anne Clampet was born on 22 Aug 1819 in North Carolina.)
