Obituary - The Warren Tribune - Friday, January 21, 1944 Scott Huffman Dies At Hospital Native Born Resident Had Been Ill One Month John Scott Huffman, native born resident of this township, died at the Wells county hospital Tuesday morning. He had been in ill health for some months and his condition became serious about three weeks ago. Mr. Huffman was born in Salamonie township on May 10, 1873, and was the son of Lewis and Amy Mounsey Huffman. At the time of his death he was aged 70 years, seven months, and eight days. He had been a farmer all his life and lived four miles north of Warren. Mr. Huffman was twice married. His first wife was Violet L. Weaver and she died in 1908. Of this union three sons survive. They are Leo, Everett and Harry Huffman, all of this community. His second wife was Clara Stroup Shadle, and she survives together with two daughters. They are Mrs. Mary Eliot of near Warren, and Mrs. Martha Lannerd of Indianapolis. Funeral services were held from the Congregational Christian church in Warren Tuesday afternoon. They were in charge of Rev. W. M. Jay and burial was in the Jones cemetery.

Huffman Dies At Bluffton Funeral Services Thursday At Church In Warren John Scott Huffman, 70, Salamonie township farmer near Plum Tree, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday at the Wells county hospital in Bluffton where he was taken about a week ago for observation and treatment. Mr. Huffman was born in Salamonie township May 10, 1873, to Lewis and Amy Mounsey Huffman, and was married a first time to Violet L. Weaver who died November 6, 1908. His second marriage was to Clella Stroup Shadle January 25, 1910. Surviving are the widow, three sons by the first marriage, Everett, Leo and Harry Huffman of Warren; two daughters by the second marriage, Mrs. Mary Elliott of Warren and Mrs. Martha Lannerd of Indianapolis and a brother, Frank H. Huffman, Bluffton, Wells county assessor. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Congregational Christian church in Warren with the Rev. W. M. Jay, its pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Jones Cemetery in Wells county. Floral offerings are not desired.
