Obituary
Sarah Jane Stoop was born in Pennsylvania Oct. 6, 1841, later with her parents moved to Iowa, settling near Monmouth Oct. 6, 1858 (shown in 1850 Monmouth census). She was married to John Clampett and to this union were born twelve children, two dying in infancy. In 1861 when the call came for volunteers, her husband was among the first to join the boys in blue. She endured the hardships at home which are known only to those going through similar circumstances. Her husband John Clampett departed this life March 1, 1908. Those left to mourn her departure are four girls and three boys: Mrs. Wm. Harvey of Orleans, Mrs. August Drotts of Norton, Mrs. Amanda Hamilton of Republican City, Mrs. Alice Hardesty of Fargo, Okla. Frank Clampett of Naponee, Arnet Clampett of Sheridan, Wyo., Tom Clampett of Olive, Canada.
