The
Web Site Development
The site has been re-developed from a technical perspective with the following objectives :
- Web pages to work well with all types of modern browser. Pages are being tested in Opera 7, Netscape 7, Mozilla and Internet Explorer 6
- The site is being developed to view without horizontal scrollbars in a screen resolution of 800x600 for all pages except the Photo Album section which will be re-developed at a later stage. Viewing should also work well in resolutions of 1024x768 and above
- Change page layout to enable text re-sizing. This will enable easier reading for those with sight difficulties. In IE use View/Text Size, in Opera use View/Zoom, and in Netscape and Mozilla use View/Text Zoom
- All links to external sites now have a small graphic to indicate that this is an external link and also to enable opening in anew window by clicking on the small icon. For more details visit Link Graphics
- The site uses a lot of dynamic content provided mainly by JavaScript and in all cases where possible, alternatives have been set up so that the site works almost as well in browsers without JavaScript or JavaScript has been disabled
- As part of this process, the site is being re-coded to the latest web standards, using XHTML 1.1 standards from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) - You can read more about this at www.w3.org
- Additionally, attempts are being made to ensure the site meets the Accessibility Guidelines so that the web site works well for people accessing the web using non-graphical browsers, braille-readers (for the slight-impaired), etc. This aspect of the re-development is taking a little longer than hoped but efforts will continue
Any feedback regarding this re-development is most welcome, especially if you are able to report anything which doesn't work well for you. This includes any comments regarding layout, colour schemes, graphics, fonts, spelling, grammar - anything!
